Presenter: Rev. Mark Jeske
This is the second part of a presentation by Rev. Mark Jeske. In Part 1, Rev. Jeske explored the fascinating history of Milwaukee’s earliest Lutheran congregations. German and Scandinavian Lutheran immigrants from 1839-1875 made Lutheranism the largest Protestant group. These early Lutheran families formed many congregations and erected church buildings in communities that stand to this day as a reflection of their devotion to the Lord. In this second part of his presentation, Rev. Jeske will review how Lutheranism in Milwaukee expanded in the years between 1875-1900.
The presenter is Rev. Mark Jeske. Rev. Jeske served as a charter member of the board of directors for the WELS Historical Institute. He served on the faculty at Luther Prep in Watertown and for 42 years as senior pastor at St. Marcus in Milwaukee. He was also the host of Time of Grace ministry. Rev. Jeske has a great love for Lutheran history in the Milwaukee area where he not only grew up but also served for most of his ministry. Now retired, he continues to serve the Lord and assist various ministry efforts.
