Description: The date of the WELS Historical Institute bus tour is Friday, August 05, 2022. The meeting and ending location is Christ, Pewaukee. Beginning at 8:00 AM sharp, bus tour attendees will tour the recently expanded facilities at Christ, followed by an opening devotion, and then a short presentation on Luther’s September Testament, whose 500th anniversary is September 2022 by Rev. Dr. Richard Krause.
The participants will board the bus and travel to Immanuel, Farmington (Johnson Creek) and visit their church building and cemetery. The next tour will be St. John, Jefferson, followed by lunch in St. John’s fellowship hall. After lunch, there will be four tours, Immanuel, Hubbleton, St. Mark, Watertown, Trinity, Watertown, and the final stop will be a tour of Luther Preparatory School, followed by a short presentation on Martin Chemnitz by Rev. Evan Chartrand. The 500th anniversary of Chemnitz’s birth is November 09, 2022.
Dr. Joel Pless will be giving talks on the bus while in transit on the founding of the WELS and the founding and work of the Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference.
The cost is $60 for WELS Historical Institute members and $85.00 for non-members. The return time to the parking lot of Christ, Pewaukee will between 5:30-6:00 PM. Participants need to be able to walk well and board and egress a motor coach. Registration is via the WELS website.
