Mr. Stephen Gurgel presents “The War to End All Germans.” Explore how undercover federal agents visited WELS churches on a search for treason during World War I. During his work for his master’s thesis in history, Stephen Gurgel extensively searched through old government documents and told their stories—stories of deceit, arrests, undercover missions, and government searches of churches and homes. The response of our synod ranges from sad to humorous to inspiring.
